PERSONAL TRAINING
FOR TRACK & FIELD ATHLETES

We will provide a comprehensive program of "personal training" specific to your event(s), level of development, goals, and circumstances.  We will design and operate your training/competition program specific to your needs and objectives.

PROCESS

I.  If you are interested, you will complete a questionnaire (included at the bottom of this page) and interview (in person, if possible), describing your circumstances -  age, gender, education/ employment status, event(s), development level, training/competition history, goals/expectations, location option preference, desired extensiveness of program, & special needs.

II.  If we believe that we can help, we will propose a specific plan:

bullet

Coach -  to design and supervise your training/competition program.

bullet

Location -  "we come to you", "you come to us", OR "by remote"

bullet

Extensiveness of Program -  "we provide a complete year-around program", "we provide a seasonal program", OR "we assist with your current program"

bullet

Special Needs Provisions -  sports science/medicine assessments & programming, as needed; physiological, biomechanical, psycho-social, health maintenance, nutritional, etc.

bullet

Your Obligations -  time and work commitment, costs

III.  If you and we agree on a plan, we will prepare and both will sign a contract with specific provisions, and then initiate your program.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

We will provide an outstanding coach specific to your event(s) and circumstances.  The coach will be recruited from among the many great coaches who have (for whatever reason) left university/college/high school coaching, club coaches,  OR current school coaches who also work with "open" athletes.  The assigned coach will design and supervise your training/competition program, and coordinate the contributions of others (e.g., sports scientists, sports physicians, nutritionists) on your behalf.

LOCATION OPTIONS

bullet

We will bring the program to you. -   If you prefer, and we can arrange it, we will recruit a coach (and additional support people, if needed) in your geographical area to work with you there.

bullet

You come to us. -  If you prefer, we will recruit the best overall coach (and support people) for your event and circumstances, and you will move to the location of that coach.  We will assist with arranging education and/or employment opportunities at that location.

bullet

By remote. -  Recommended for consideration only by middle distance and distance runners.  If you prefer being coached by remote, the coach will communicate with you primarily by e-mail and telephone, and will arrange in-person attendance during training and competitions when possible.

EXTENSIVENESS OPTIONS

bullet

Year-Around Training/Competition Program -  If you desire, and your circumstances permit, we will provide a complete year-around training/competition program that will maximize your development.

bullet

Seasonal Training/Competition Program -  If you have seasonal gaps in your current training/competition program, we will fill those gaps.

bullet

Advise Relative To Your Current Training/Competition Program -  With approval of, and in cooperation with, your current coach, we will advise relative to your current training/competition program.

SPECIAL NEEDS

Upon your consultation with (and the recommendation of) the coach, we will arrange for the assistance of sports science and/or sports medicine personnel to support your program.  Example services include:

bullet

physiological assessments and programming

bullet

biomechanical assessments and programming

bullet

psychological/sociological assessments and programming

bullet

health maintenance assessments and programming

bullet

nutritional assessments and programming

YOUR OBLIGATIONS

bullet

Commitment to the program -  Obviously, we would expect that you would commit the time and effort to be able to benefit maximally from the training/competition opportunities offered.

bullet

Fees -  While we demand that our coaches and support persons be fully committed to helping you as an athlete "be as good as you can be" as the first priority, we also need to pay bills.  Upon learning your circumstances and preferences, we will provide a contract that will specify the training program offered and the monthly fees.

EXAMPLE PROGRAM

This example is intended to describe possible scenarios of how the track-tech.com "personal training" program might be applied.

Example Athlete:   middle distance or distance runner,  male or female,  age 14 or older,  location - anywhere,  development level - whatever,  training/competition history -  whatever, special needs - whatever,  goals/expectations -  excellence

Example Coach:  Lyle Knudson, Frisco, Colorado  (assuming that the athlete accepts the training/competition program as described, and is willing to be coached by remote OR will move to Summit County, Colorado).  Else, another highly qualified coach will be recruited who meets the criteria specific to the athlete's preferences and circumstances.

Example Location Options (assuming Knudson as the coach):

bullet

"You come to us." -  The athlete moves to Summit County, Colorado to live, train, and go to school and/or work.  If high school age, move only with family.  Living -  in mountains of Central Colorado; resort (winter skiing, summer vacations) community; will help locate housing.    Training -  high altitude (9000'+);  good weather and training conditions from April - October; not good (cold and snow) from November - March.  School/Work -  if junior college age, attend Colorado Mountain College (no track/field/XC program) and/or work; if post-collegiate, attend special programs (e.g., computer information systems, environmental studies, the arts,  resort management, real estate) at Colorado Mountain College or work; jobs (especially resort related) are readily available.

bullet

"By remote" -  You and your coach will conduct relevant communications by e-mail, phone, fax, and/or mail; and get together for training and competitions when possible.

bullet

Computerized training program -  Athlete purchases and follows T&F Training 2008 computer program where-ever.

Example Extensiveness Options:

bullet

Year-around training/competition program.

bullet

Training/competition program during summers and/or other gaps in current program.

bullet

Coach only advises with current program.

Example Special Needs Provisions:  With a doctorate in Sports Science, Coach Knudson would provide much of the necessary sports physiology, biomechanics, psychology-sociology, & nutrition analysis and programming.  If additional expertise is needed, he would call on, for example -  Robert Vaughn, PhD, physiology; Keith Henschen, PhD, psychology; Joan Hammeren, R.D., nutrition; etc..

Projected Fees, for various location/extensiveness options:

bullet

On location coaching -  $1000 per month + expenses (e.g., travel to competitions, special needs)

bullet

Coaching by remote -  $500 per month + expenses (e.g., travel to meets, telephone calls, special needs)

bullet

Advise on training/competition only -  $100 per month + expenses (e.g., telephone calls)

bullet

T&F Training 2008 computer program only -  one time cost = $237
